The AV-SUN Readers are sunglasses designed for pilots who have good distant vision but need reading glasses for maps and instruments. With the AV-SUNS pilots can read maps or instruments without taking off or changing glasses. The reading bifocals are low so your view outside the plane will not be distorted. The tinting on the bottom of each lens fades to give you a brighter, sharp view of an aviation map.

The AV-SUN Readers are ophthalmic quality with UV Protection and are not polarized. Polarized sunglasses should not be worn by pilots because they block out glare and some colors, the glare from an approaching airplane is the first thing you see to avoid a mid-air, also Garmin and other moving maps can not be viewed through polarized sunglasses. The tint is the same gray tint that was developed for the U.S. fighter pilots, who must make life and death decisions in a split second. The AV-SUN Readers are impact, scratch resistant and exceed all government ANSI standards. The AV-SUN Readers are available in 3 great looking styles and your choice of reading bifocal.

The Aviator

The Aviator is available in 3 sizes, medium 54 mm, large 56 mm and ex- large 58 mm. About 45% of men prefer the medium size, 50 % prefer the large size and 5% the ex-large. If you have a thin face the medium size may work best for you.

The Pilot

The Pilot is available in 2 sizes, medium 54 mm and Large 56 mm.

The Flyer

The Flyer is available in only one size, 48 mm.

The Lenses
Our Lenses are made from CR39 Ophthalmic resin that is a prescription quality lens material. The bifocals are ground into the lenses. They are not stick on bifocals.  The bifocals are available in +100, +125, +150, +175, +200, +225, +250, +275 and +300.

Shipping & Handling by First Class mail is included within the USA.  Please call for shipping & handling rates outside of the USA.  If you choose to go Fed-Ex or UPS there will be a service charge.   We normally ship the same day or next business day after receiving your order.
